Looking for some recommendations and suggestions for the 2019 road trip we are planning. So far it’s three parks that we’ve never been to before. Don’t have specific dates yet but the parks are Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens Williamsburg & Six Flags America. Already purchased our KD tickets and fast lane plus during their President’s weekend sale. All set for SFA with our memberships too. Hoping to find a deal for BGW at some point. Also looking for an AirBnB for at least part of the time. We did that for Cedar Point last year and it was great.

Ok I’m up for any ideas, additions, in park dining recommendations, how to navigate the parks, best time to go etc! Thanks in advance for any input.

When I went, I was able to hit some credit stops on the way such as funcoaster in NJ and Funland in Fredericksburg. On the way back, we stopped in at Ocean City Maryland for their rides. There were a lot of Wacky Worms there (3 within 2 miles) but it was a good credit stop, and they have a classic rock o plane.

If you want to pick up an extra credit Go Kart plus isn't too far from BGW.

I’ve heard that BGW offers discounted tickets to ACE members, if you’re a member that’s worth looking into. I got my tickets to Kennywood using that discounted rate a few years ago.

We did that same trip a few years ago. There is a hotel right across the parking lot from KD. At the time it was a Best Western but I think it has changed since but it is still there. At the time the price was not bad and the ability to walk to the park, not pay for parking, and go back to the room for a bit during the day was really nice.

As for the KD park, we have been there three times now and have enjoyed it every time. Sadly, Volcano, which was one of our favorites, is gone now. They do have an impressive slate of coasters and Intimidator 305 is the best of the bunch by far. We rode it repeatedly on our last visit and it did not get old.

As for food, I can't remember anything special at KD. Totally by accident, we found El Azteca Mexican restaurant in Ashland Va. It was excellent with authentic Mexican cuisine, large portions and low prices. They were still open after park closing too which worked well.

BG Williamsburg is one of our very favorite parks. If you plan to do it in one day you need to be at the gate to the parking well before opening. The rides are enough to fill most if the day but there are many shows which may interest you too and those take up time. Again sadly, Curse of DarKastle, their 3D attraction, is gone. It was really very good for a first generation technology attraction. We like to have lunch at Das Festhaus because there is free entertainment going in the dining room while you eat. Often it is Ompa bands and German dancing but it does fit the theme. I really liked the corn beef and German potato salad.

The pastry in the French section of BG were great for a breakfast snack shortly after opening.

KD has chick fil a and Panda Express as part of the dining plan. Even on the daily dining plan. I think it’s an awesome value. Mac Bowl was okay when we tried it opening weekend last year, but it wasn’t really what we had expected. It was more like a variety of “toppings” you would find in a salad that you mix together in Mac n cheese.
