Dollywood dicussion

    ^Yep - we rearranged our entire 2017 trip to get there and it never opened. Very disappointing. Maybe sometime in late 2019 or 2020 a return.

    It took me 4 tries. Two trips were planned exclusively for Dollywood and then there were two day trips visiting family in the Atlanta area. I find it funny the only time I saw it operating was in the winter. I had no luck on any summer visits.

    I can’t wait to see this new section complete! Lots to do to get it open! When do they claim it’s going to open? If it’s March hell no!

    As of now i'm planning to be there the 1st week of june so i hope its done and Lightning rod better be open!!!!

    ^ It's sad that's a genuine concern for a ride going into it's 4th season. It took me 4 tries, but it was well worth it.

    We are trying to get back there this summer after our 2017 trip was a LR shutout.

    It took me 6 tries to get my first ride on TTD and this will be my 4th attemp for LR.

    ^and we were pissed about our only try being unsuccessful! LOL As you may remember it wasn't that the had problems that pissed me off, it was that they hid the closure until you were in the park. There was nothing on the website, nothing from them on social media. It was so unethical. They were even saying they expected it to open later in the day when there was ZERO chance. Maybe this summer................

    I can personally say that a lot of times when parks say there is a chance of opening they actually mean it. Especially with long term downtimes, they could think they figured out what was up but that problem just leads to another. I think it's unfair to accuse, especially if you don't know what is actually going on inside the park. They didn't sign up for this $22 million dollar mistake.

    ^Well it remained closed for over 4 weeks after our visit, so opening that afternoon was BS. And actually, yes they did sign up for this "mistake" as we all know they did not listen to the designer on who should supply the launch mechanism. No pass for the Dollywood folks here. Guilty! Guilty! Guilty! And they knew they were guilty as they actually refunded our admission for that day. The problem is that we rearranged the trip to get there and then this happened so a refund did not really make us whole. The Customer Care folks were clearly not happy with how operations was handling it. The young lady in charge of Customer Care asked me to contact her when we return whatever year it is and she would make sure the park made amends for all this. Maybe 2019 will be that year.
