I live 3 miles down the street fromn the park, so I decided to take my 5yr old daughter for a couple of hours from 5-7.

Parking was in the preferred lot as the regular parking lot was blocked off.
People were lined up at the gates awaiting entry into the park at 4:30. There was a vinyl display banner displaying the 5-7 pm hours and 3 rides open. Needless to say there were a lot of p*ssed off people who drove a long distance to the park. (you can read of their discontent on SFNE's fb page) I wont get into their valid arguements though the park stayed open an hour later until 8 and copy and pasted a "canned response" to everyone in their fb page.

Once inside, there were no haunted scenes illuminated, all the frightfest stuff was off. Security blocked off all areas of the park except for the three rides that were open- Bizzarro which ran only one train while I was there, Big Red Cars was open and quite a few kids were clogging that line, and for the first time since I can recall, Cat Woman's Whip actually had a brief wait.

The line at Guest relations was almost as long at Bizzarro with guests who were pissed when they arrived and learned of the restricted hours, only three rides running, no food except for popcorn and a fried dough stand, no fright fest, park attendants claimed that an email went out to pass holders - those who didnt get the email must have bad email addresses on file (Lie- we all got our funnatics rewards via emails- so they knew our correct email address)....

In any case, I cant complain. I knew of the hours and such before I went on Friday. The reason I went? Well, Im just thankful that we had a couple of hours in the park- retricted or not. It was a weird but cool feeling with almost all the park closed off and either dark, or only a few lights on. Very quiet..like the beach at night...Kinda cool for a change.

And yea, I could bitch about it like most people, but I am trying to appreciate the small stuff that they do for us because it hasnt been a great year there this year. I will leave it at that

Well, all I will say is I took the afternoon off work long in advance when the event was promised to me. Did I bother to go? No. I will not drive to the park to have three rides available (none of which I care about anyway). So I stayed home. Now, had the park never promised SP holder a private event from 5-10 PM (with no restrictions) and if it was a last minute decision to just give us a bonus day, I would have been very pleased at the gesture.

The fact is, and whether you know it or not I do not know....The only reason the park decided to let SP holder in on 10/8 was because they had intended the event to be for Discover Card holders only, but due to damage control with people squawking, they decided to let SP holders in. Either way, it seems like I am in the majority on this when I say it was a really crappy thing to do to SP holders (judging by the negative feedback the park got).

But, this like every other rotten thing this year that has taken place, I do not blame the SFNE people, I blame that fossil of a CEO we now have. The only thing I blame SFNE for is the lame responses/falsehoods to questions when asked. They need to be upfront and say, these are corporate decisions, we do not agree with them, we are sorry. That I would accept.

Anyway, enough venting from me. Glad you enjoyed the three rides.

dont get me wrong, Im not saying I enjoyed the three rides. All I am saying is that while I agree with everyone who is pissed and why they are pissed- I was just trying to make the best out of a bad situation.

^ couldnt agree with you more

That would surely get the park sold lmao. Just kidding.

But I couldn't agree more with what you said about this whole matter. More corporate cuts are just driving the customers away to LC and Canobie. This put a lot of people over the edge. The mouse put a lot of people over to edge. Canobie getting a euro fighter is pushing a lot of people over the edge. LC new flat will also push even more people over the edge. 2012 passes will be a lot lower than 2011 and 2010, thats for sure. I'm sure they're happy with the 2011 pass sales right now but people aren't going to be visiting the park. I haven't bought mine yet and I'm not sure if I'm even going to...
