With 2012 being our 80th anniversary do you think the park will Go Big, Go Six Flags New England? SFOT and SFMM are having an anniversary celebration in 2011, 50th and 40th respectively. The new management seems to find these miletones important and they Go Big with them.

Now before you say we're running out of room. Look at this.

I didn't mean to have to cover up the Hall of Justice covered but to show how much room we really have I had to. The HoJ would be the station and the queue, for whatever this coaster may be. Modern woodie anyone? Our older ones, have to say this, flat out suck.

And if you couldn't tell, brown is all the open space, black is paths/stairs/maintenance roads. Catwomens Whip would be put into storage and added to Thomas Town at a later date. With some land clearing and dirt moving, that space is gigantic.

    Let the speculation begin.

^This is impressive. But I think that having a roller coaster fly over a walkway in such a small spot, looks kind of tacky. Not that the spot is small but it is not big either.

Really like the idea. Would the 80th Anniversary be for the beginning all the way from Riverside? Because it sounds kinda strange how 2011 is the 50th but 2012 is 80th lol. But if they really did that, I'd rather have a Euro Fighter, just because those seem more interesting and thrilling. I mean a modern woodie sounds fun, but you can only have so many wooden roller coasters. But a third large one like the Beast or Son of Beast would be pretty cool, too.

    Re: 2012 Speculation: SFNE's 80th Anniversary

Its not the 50th anniversary for anyone except for SFOT. See here. <a class="postlink-local" href="http://sfneonline.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=544#p544" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">viewtopic.php?p=544#p544</a>

A euro fighter would be nice. Or how about a launched Intamin. Superman Escape clone. I'm talking about the Warner Bros Movie World version.

Then why are the advertising it as the "50th Anniversary" if its only for SFOT. Probably because it's the original park. But still... And im not familiar with that ride. I can't find a good POV of it.

Did you read <a class="postlink-local" href="http://sfneonline.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=544#p544" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">viewtopic.php?p=544#p544</a>? Its explained there. But I'll briefly say it here. When was the last time you heard anyone from Six Flags mention 50th Anniversary Celebration? I can tell you. Before Weber took over.

And here's a good POV of Superman: Escape. I'd want the dark ride section included.

    Re: 2012 Speculation: SFNE's 80th Anniversary

The 2011 50th Anniversary is for SFOT's grand opening. The start of SFI as a company.

2012, our 80th would be for Riverside itself. Wish started on the land now known as the South End and later expanded by buying out the neighboring drive in theater.

The hard part about this shaded area is it's not all that land. Looks like it at first site but lets see. The spot next to the mouse is only 40-50 ft by maybe 100ft. Can only then out the midway so much.

Now the main chunk. You called for Poison Ivy's removal but the majority of remaining land is Hill side or against a retention wall. It would need to be rebuild to support any kind of ride. This area is only around 150 ft X 200 ft. given extra space your look at at 35-40 thousand square feet. That is under an acre of land and thats not including space for extra queue. Even a super compact woodie like Boardwalk Bullet Sits on 1.5 acres.

So your probably looking at another family coaster.

bizarro#1 - You won't see a Euro Fighter with Canobie installing one. As for the Superman coaster, it possibly could be designed to work but the one you mentioned is around 14 million US. Not a practical addition.

    Re: 2012 Speculation: SFNE's 80th Anniversary

Intamin Vertical lift then. Intamin's version of a euro fighter.

You can't talk about additions being practical and not practical just yet. Shapiro's gone and its a whole new game.

SF is fine financially right now. They're using 2011 to stable themselves even more and adding bigger additions in recent years to the more popular parks is the right thing to do. It brings in more money for cap ex. SFNE's attendance this year was around 1.5-1.7ish which is really good and they didn't even add much. 2011 they're adding the cheapest thing they could add, spending little money, they're going to gain a HUGE profit from it. Practical? The new SF, $14 million would be practical.

Plus it would only be about, $11,500,000...

As for the space, thats why I said they would have to do a lot of land clearing and dirt moving.

    Re: 2012 Speculation: SFNE's 80th Anniversary

Next year SFNE might have the money to actually install something great. Who knows? And sadly, since I've moved to my iPod, I can't see the video. Thank you Apple. But the Superman idea sounds smart, to me at least. Right next to Bizarro? It's like they're fighting each other. Could see some good themeing come out of that. And it doesn't have to be an EXCACT clone, could be edited so it could fit in the space provided.

    Re: 2012 Speculation: SFNE's 80th Anniversary

I'm Curious were you're getting your numbers form. How is it that when the Chain has not recovered it's number form 2003 to 2005, SFNE has suffered no loss to only a 200,000 total loss of guests.

As for the company. Debt still exists and no one knows what 2011 will bring. 14 would only be the coaster wouldn't count ground work, ride removal, etc. Coaster could be dragged up even higher with little effort.

    Re: 2012 Speculation: SFNE's 80th Anniversary

Honestly since we are so limited on room, i wouldn't be too surprised if we got a Zac Spin. Think about it, its a perfect fit for the park, depending on the one we get, and how many cars come with it, the capacity wouldn't be too horrible, and it would be the only kind of it on the east coast!

If we didn't get that i would prefer a nice small launch coaster with a few inversions, or a nice euro fighter. Maybe they could even break the steepness record! haha =]

I personally wish they had opted to install the Zac Spin instead of the mouse. Not only would it have been an addition people wouldn't have hated it would have left room for more addition n the future.

I'm 65% sure we were supposed to have the Zacspin. Shhhhhh

DrGigglez, the mouse is free. Old managment even did back to back coasters at parks. SFFT got Tony Hawk and Goliath (free coaster from SFNO)

    Re: 2012 Speculation: SFNE's 80th Anniversary

For the 80th, I don't see a coaster coming our way. The most I see is maybe 2-3 flats, because we haven't seen SFNE put much into adding major attractions within the past few years.
