2016 Speculation

I wish we got one or two more flats to fill the spots and more solid Superman info but I'm happy. Not the best year but very good.

An interesting thought... I wonder if we were ever slated to receive a Premier Sky Rocket II launch coaster. The exact coaster is being built about an hour away at Lake Compounce for 2016. A launched coaster is one of the few things SFNE doesn't have. Given the small footprint and the fact that it's launched makes it seem like a perfect fit for SFNE. The only negative I can see is the capacity. Plus, Six Flags tends to buy multiples of ride models where possible, probably because it's cheaper to buy in bulk. Six Flags never put another sky rocket in after completing the one at SFDK. Makes me wonder if we had to do a quick change of plans due to Lake Compounce announcing it first.

Regardless the 2016 additions are pretty solid. The park NEEDS complimentary rides to the coasters and this will help liven a dead spot in the park. Superman will have more recognition with the public than Bizarro did. That in turn will help sell more merch. As for "re-theming" I'm not holding out for anything crazy. We all know that means a repaint with some new signage and suddenly we're referring to it as "immersive" Glad to see the ride is being cared for at least.

We have a long offseason and many months of hoping they get this right. Make Superman right again for the people who DEFINITELY love it just as much (OR MORE) than the park itself.

But please please please listen to us - the ones who actually have the power to vote it number 1 in the golden tickets! It's just so silly to me that as of right now it doesn't seem like they are. The ONLY way you can enhance the ride experience on this coaster is to FIX what caused the experience to diminish... THE TRAINS. Now yes we understand the amount of money it would cost for new trains, but if you can't get the speakers off the seats - then order new ones without the speakers. If you are confirming you won't be having the audio in the headset speakers why would you leave the audio box instead of adding in the extra two seats. That's approximately 120 more rides per hour, that would be enhancing the experience. This coaster won 5 golden tickets, 4 of them as Superman WITHOUT these gimmicks. The ride doesn't need any extra "help" just let it do what it was created to do! And there is no reason not to install el toro restraints, el toro has unpresidented airtime and forces, the restraints are a big reason. So why not listen to all of us who spend our free time riding all of these different coasters, with different elements, layouts, trains, restraints from all different manufacturers, when in the end STR is about getting the Golden Ticket back & we are the ones with the vote? It's called market research for a reason. It's like holding up 2 shirts and asking which one you like better and then picking the opposite.

I also like that Jen touched on the recognition that Superman is obviously a much stronger brand and has more selling power. It just really makes me wonder how Bizarro ever passed through that many people without ever being vetoed.

I hope Superman gets an updated light package that illuminates the lift hill.

I think the trains will be heavily modified, Jen said multiple times they will see multiple enhancements. She also doesn't know the ride as much as us so when the question came up about replacing the two seats, she probably immediately thought that the trains will be the same and that it won't happen. I highly doubt they would just paint the audio box red and leave it.

So if they are most likely adding two rows, that means new seats and restraints (current style are also very likely.

I'm sure when it came to Bizarro one or more people said it was a pore idea. but the park doesn't always get a say in what a coaster is named or changed to. Batman was not originally going to be batman but corporate made the call.

I'm a bit curious about the sets. the buildings will need to be replaced or removed but I want to see the shields stay near the photo booth.

I also really hope that with the addition of fireball they give an update to the Rockville arcade. It's fun when the park is crowded or the weather isn't so nice. I just wish they cleaned it up a little, fresh paint maybe some newer games? That would be awesome. The arcade at GADV near movie town is really nice, they should take notes. I'm not saying it has to be a Dave & Busters but just a makeover would be great.

Rockville in general has bee deteriorating. Games are run down. The taller facades have been removed and recycled as Fright fest sets. a face-lift would be nice. Theirs little 50's left in their 50's area.

Does anyone truly know what exactly is happening with the transformation of Superman?

1.) Are they keeping the headrests on even without audio?
2.) Are the restraints staying the same?
3.) Are they taking the audio box out?

This is seriously annoying. Revolution is getting amazing attention and SFNE can't even give a world's best coaster good treatment. I don't think I'm going for the rest of this year (maybe saturday because I have to with a friend) and not next year. If Superman is better than expected, then I'll go.

I think that if they are taking the audio out, its almost guaranteed that they will ditch the box and headrests. There is no way that they could be that stupid. I doubt Jen had all the details on the project. We will probably find it out later this year or at Nor' Easter at the latest. If they are even going to bother transforming it, they are going to heavily modify everything. They are not just going to paint it and call it a day.
