Lets just hope the right work was done on the Red train this offseason and it rides better this year!

Don't give them ideas. What's next? A press release saying " After immense feedback from our guests, Wicked Cyclone will be the worlds first permanent Vibrating Coaster! Starting mid-season, or whenever the trains start to suck, riders will be able to meander around the Track while getting a vibration massage! This can only be found at The Coaster Capital of New England!"

If people could handle an 80 MPH ride on Nitro at sub freezing temperatures, I'm sure they could handle an optional 25 MPH tram ride. Six Flags doesn't care about manufacturers temperature recommendations and I would imagine that the park could run all of their coasters aside from Goliath. They most likely wouldn't though... they generally cut paths for staffing so I would assume that the DC area would be closed since it's easy to cut off. When you cut areas of the park you save money on staffing, decorations and general overhead which increases the likelihood of the event being successful. I mocked this up a few months ago and posted it elsewhere, but I think a Holiday event at SFNE would look something like this...

    or more conservatively this...

Great Adventure, Dollywood, Hershey and plenty of other parks have proven that they can easily draw decent crowds even with temperatures in the low 30's.

A Joker clone, Pandemonium clone and SLC have proven that they can run in cold weather at Great Adventure, St Louis and SFA respectively. I've never heard of a standard boomerang having issues with temperature, B&M's can run a separate set of wheels in the cold (as they do at Great Adventure) so they could run Batman if they want to expand out that far, I assume Thunderbolt will run based on location and I feel the same way about Wicked Cyclone. They'll want Sky Screamer open since even though they are brutally cold, they're really popular during Holiday events since people like to get an aerial view of the lights.

Also, as I mentioned... in the event of bad weather they'll close. They did this at Great Adventure and SFSTL this year and they lost a weekend due to the placement of Christmas and Christmas eve and the event was still a success. They factor in a few weather related closures here and there, if they get a significant snowfall or it snows and they don't have time to adequately clear the snow they'll close. Some people act like they're going to run trams in 6 inches of snow and they'll have people using dogsleds to get to the front gate. It's New England, plows and rock salt exist. If they didn't have a few hours to clear the park or if it's currently snowing, they won't open.

I've ridden it when it was in the low 30's, so based on what exactly?

That makes a lot of sense? Didn't know an announcement via the internet was contingent upon the weather. But okay!

I'm guessing that's so they don't have to schlep to the HR building to do the broadcast...

Or they let everyone stay home today and they will use Wednesday to get everything ready instead of Tuesday.

^ @depotrat yeah that's the most plausible response. Good thinking.
