Canobie opened for the season on May 6th. This is the latest opening the park has had to my knowledge. A decade go they opened early April on Sundays.
Weather - not great. light rain and Drizzle all morning heavy rain for a half house around one.but after the rain it stopped and the sun came out the rest of the day.
    hours - 11am to 6pm
Crowds - Very light, I can recall only one day where crowds were at this level and the weather was worse with heavy rain almost all day.

My rides - 4X Cannonball including last ride of the night | 3X Star blaster, Untamed, Mine of Lost Souls | 2X PhycoDrome | 1X Carousel, Flume, Pirata, Wipeout, Canobie 500, Antique Cars, Twist-n-shout, Rowdy Roosters, Crazy Cups, DaVinci's Dream, Sky Ride, Boston harbor Patrol, Caterpillar, Over the rainbow, Skater and Giant wheel.

Rides down - Canobie Express, and extreme Frisbee, Crazy Cups Pirata, Zero Gravity, and Skater has down time but were all taken care of.

What's new - The park removed the wood form their Branco pinball machine and replace the sections with plexyglass. new pinball game Batman Premium Addition ($1 play), The park added 2 puzzle rooms to Wooden nickle arcade ($5 play), More arcade games will be coming to the central Skeeball building and a few Skeeball will be removed. The band organ is not operational and the park is using Recorded music over an amp speaker.

    Canobie Express News
The cars and Tinder are still out at the main train station. the Locomotive is on site but still in storage. The train is currently not operating since the back track was removed for the sewer project. The park took this opportunity to work on the grade of the line and might do more work on the back turn. the park dose plant o have it back up this year.

Trip report and photo album coming soon.

^Great report. Any word on what's happening with Extreme Frisbee? Some have said it's down for good and not on the current park map. Others say it's being fixed.

They wouldn't getting to to much details. Just greed it's giving them a headache and they are still working on it. The ride is on the map and he height details are given on the map as well.

I forgot to point out that the rehab on the carousel has started they have repainted about 8 horses.

Thanks, like anything mechanical, they need maintenance every now and then. I'm sure it's a challenge getting parts from a ride that's been out of production for years. Still, the HUSS Frisbee's are classics and I hope to see them around for awhile.

I'm also glad that Canobie's taking care of their carousel horses. It shows that the park cares about its history.

The horses look great. I Took some pics which I will have up as soon as I can . I just wish they still operated the band organ. the amp doesn't sound as good.

The impression they were giving is that they wan tot work with Frisbee and get it going so I think it will be around for a while.

No electronic recording comes anywhere near the authenticity of the original organs. Lake Compounce's Wurlitzer organ hasn't worked on its carousel for years and the recording they play gives it no justice. I love the park, but I have little sympathy for these artificial reproductions.

I agree Hole heatedly. When I went to Funtown last year I noticed they didn't have the Calliope and that took a lot away form the park entrance and the carousel. The band organ was the only extra left that made this carousel feel classic. I hated when they removed the brass polls. The rugged base has always felt tacky to me. I remember when the runners were removed and replaced with fiberglass replicas.

but the rehabbed horses do look great.

I do see now that I used Uppercase letters on Hole and Calliope but those are pretty much nothing

anyways back to Canobie. I forgot to mention Jungle Bounce has a new sign.

I agree a bad post rating is uncalled for a small mistake like that.

Another thing about Jungle Bounce this year is that it now has this new mechanism, so the ride wont bounce as much as it did last year.

Canobie has always used their carousel organ. Please don't tell me they stopped this year I'll be so upset.

It's possible which is why I brought it to his attention. I'm just not sure if there is something that he thought I did wrong that I am not seeing. but also I have a few of this from the one user. So if he is hitting rankings by accident that often he may wan to rethink the way he views the site or at least holds his device.
They are no longer using the ban organ. last October the organ was intact and they were blasting Night at Bald Mountain.
Thing is since the band organ was together One might easily overlook it. This year the band organ case is in place but the musical instruments are taken down. I do have a photo and I will share it and more soon

He also can be a bit snooty.

Sad about the band organ. Its a remarkable instrument and can be very nice to listen too. Its really too bad more and more parks aren’t putting enough time and effort to maintain them these days. I understand they can be expensive and hard to maintain, but Canobies Carousel is one where a band organ really fits in well.

As far as the Wurlitzer on Lake Compounce's carousel no longer working, I was told by a park manager that the person who once repaired it is no longer available. It's sad to think that a working knowledge of these great instruments is a dying art that may one day render them silent.
