I am thinking about visiting Luna Park or Dorney on Thursday June 23. I am inclined to visit Luna, but I am just not sure. Which one should I go to? Also, if I do go to Coney Island, is the platinum wristband worth it? Thanks!

Without a wristband Luna can get very pricey very fast. If you are spending the full four hours it is the only way to go. Note that the wristbands expire at four hours or 6PM whichever comes first. I think the wristband gets you only 5 rides on extreme thrill rides so you have to plan somewhat to get all you want without extra $. Dorney is easier as once you are in you can ride all day and into the night. Dorney admission is certainly less than Luna wristband too. Still, Coney Island is something every enthusiast should experience as it was so fundamentally important to the history of amusement parks in America.

Coney Island is definitely a must if you have never been, but I would much rather go to Dorney. Ticket prices are much less, they are not very crowded, and the rides are better. Both parks are nice but Dorney is a better value.

Thanks for the info. We would definitely stay the full 4 hours at Luna.

Thanks. I have only been to Coney Island once, and it was very brief visit. I know that Dorney has a promotion going on where if you buy the ticket online you only pay kid's price. I will have to really think about which park to go to (there's always Knoebels :))

^Well if Knoebels is in the mix it would be my choice over those two almost every time! Knoebels is best on weekdays so you can do bracelets. Weekends are tickets and that can add up.

i woudl never tell you to pick one over the other. Coney is a bit closer so if time is an issue that's something to keep in mind. Might also want to figure in more hen Luna Spookarama and Wonderwheel are a must hit if you opt for Luna park.

I would only do Knoebels if I felt up for the 3.5 hour drive. I'll probably end up going to Luna Park, just because it's closer. Thanks everyone for the feedback!

Wow. I'm in southwestern CT, so luna is 1.5 hours and dorney is about 2.5.

^Knoebels is about 5 hours for us and the edge of how far we will go for a day trip. It was much easier when we lived in Fairfield County like you. I would still pick Knoebels over the other two even with the additional miles unless those two will yield new coasters for you.

Ok. Luna would have 4 new credits (I already rode Cyclone and Steeplechase), and I have been to Dorney once when I was three, so every park would yield new credits. I know Luna would not have much new coaster wise (besides thunderbolt, the clone spinning mouse and that torture device called a volare), but I would like to get on some of the flats, especially Air Race and Endeavor. I probably won't decide until the day before we go.

Yuur closer to Coney then I am to SFNE and LC. your Dorney Trip is Closer then most of the other parks opening Story land, Santa's Funtown are also around 3 hours. Canoibe is 45 minutes to an hour.

have you been to Rye Playland. Coasters are not much but the dark rides are great.
