There's been a lot of debate in the other sections on wether or not SFNE has anywhere to expand to. Some people are saying that they should move the employee parking lot to the other side of the street and build there. As a few users pointed out, that's not possible, and won't happen.

Someone brought up the possibility of putting a parking garage in for the employee parking lot to free up some space over there. While I think that's a pretty good idea, I think that we should forget about the employee parking lot. Leave it there.

Use the photo below for reference.

We can forget about the employee parking lot (highlighted in red).

How about Six Flags puts in a massive parking garage where the secondary parking is (highlighted in green)? That would free up the main parking lot (highlighted in blue). They could expand the park into the parking lot. This would add a massive amount of free land for the park to build on. The bridge across the highway could easily be used to transport people over the street. This would be a HUGE addition to the park.

Also, I'm not sure if anyone could tell me, but what is the land (highlighted in black) being used for? Is it owned by the park? Could the park buy it and use it for expansion?

What's your thoughts on this? Would this be possible? Do you think Six Flags could pull it off? If not, where could they expand to?

I think the plan is a absolute last resort for the park. Unless the attendance goes up a huge amount each year. I say that because this would probably cost the park near 20 million. with the parking garage and they would have to move the main entrance and tear up most of the main lots pavement. This is not even including new rides they would have to fill it up with. The park is going to have to make some though decisions in the coming years regarding space. I have a feeling that they are going to have to expand into the water park before moving across the street

The thing you will see over the next ten years is the preferred lot being taken over by the either the water park, the dry park, or even both.

The park would also never start removing part of the water park in place of the dry park. You'll also see Mind Eraser removed in I'd say the next five years. That is where our next coaster is going.

Can't wait for the park expansion that way.
But the problem with ME's spot, is that there is no where to go. It's just a pad that really can only hold a compact coaster of some sort. Unless they pack a launch coaster or something in that spot. But it would look ugly.

I think a good this they could do is to squeeze in between batman and bizarro so the ride can use the ME pad and the parking lot.

But don't expect to see mind eraser going anywhere for a while.

I want to remind every body that i am not talking 5 years i am talking about 20 years down the road. Sfne does not have a infinite amount of space for future development eventully they are going to have to expand somewhere

As for Mind Eraser's spot, I have one word. iSpeed.

Looking down the road (not literally) I could see them pushing the waterpark into the preferred lot, leaving VERY little space, because most guests can go through the regular bridge, there's the handicapped ramp for those in wheelchairs. I think they would then need to put the employee "toll booth thing" in the straightaway portion of the employee entrance, and build the parking garage right next to it.

After they remove the gas lines, they could then go into the current employee lot, not all of it, just a little. They would also ermove the clock-in/bathroom building more to the employee's garage, so that would free up space for a flat to go in.

I think we will see SFNE become very creative in the future with how they add their attractions. I'm sure they are just as aware of this as we are.

I have two words, Six Flags.
I don't think we'll see six flags get something like that anytime soon.

For the record the "toll booth thing" isn't used at all except to drive through. It's slow falling apart and is filled with junk. It should just be demolished

No your not. but honestly I dread the inevitable day were they start staking rides like Hershey dose.

as for the first post. I do not believe the park owns that green space. it's farm land and is very active. and you will not see a parking garage way too expensive.

Here's an idea for what to do with the employee parking lot. I remember hearing once that SFNE owns about 30 acres of land in CT. Could the parking lot be relocated there and the old lot used for dry/water park expansion? I know it wouldn't be able to have a tall roller coaster or anything because I think it's in the buffer zone, but would this be possible?

The problem with using the old lot is there's a gas line that runs under it and across the river into longmeadow. I don't know if that line can be moved. I believe it can't be moved otherwise i would think the park would have moved it years ago.
