What do you think the future of Looney Tunes Movietown will be?

Admin note: I accidentally merged an extra post into this thread by sfne13. I can't delete it because it will delete the whole thread. This discussion started following the announcement of Bugs Bunny Boomtown at SFOT.

Nice to see something is finally being used. I don't get why they removed it from the park. The more kids rides the better.

Because there was already a much bigger and better kiddie airplane ride in the park. It also didn't get many riders. Then again, Looney Tunes Movietown is always dead.

Its kind of sad, Movie Town IS dead!
The area is laid out nicely, but the rides need some sprucing up because they are old. The general flow of the park now goes to the South End and so families seem to end up in the other kiddie area on their way to the water park etc... And- kids can see the characters down there too, so there is really no reason to go to Movie Town.

I think its great that the ride can be used again- just looking at the video- that is a nice layout

I agree with everything you said. I'm really hoping that SFNE will see a similar rehab in 2016. Maybe that could go along with S:RoS?

Movie town when I was there had 2 kids. Part of the problem is sfne isn't meant for little kids in parents eyes.

I'd disagree with that. I see tons of little kids with their parents in Kidzopolis, so I don't see how it isn't meant for little kids.

Movie Town is falling apart. Cartoons aren't what they once were, and to be honest many of my younger cousins don't know the characters as well as many of us did.

I still think that they should keep a kiddie area there, but they should create a new theme, maybe downsize the area. There's a lot of wasted space in that section. The 4 rides (Great Chase, swings, trucks, mini-scream) should stay, where they are, but I think the old Foghorn Loghorn area and the food court should be demolished.

That along with the tiny Marvin the Martian pad could be turned into a nice landscaped area, or become a new flat location. The only problem I see is with the small food stands on the Flashback side, because those are money makers. But for a fairly cheap price, they could build small replacements over the off-season.

So yeah, I kinda went on a tangent, but I just always have felt like that section has been cluttered with things that haven't really been used in the past 5 years. Hell, you could argue the swings could go too. I rarely see those being used.

I somewhat agree with both of you. The park does host two fairly nice areas for kids that are popular. But I know that a lot of younger families don't even visit sfne. Many of the people I grew up with didn't even go to sfne. Canobie, Storyland and santa's village were the main parks. I can see why. If I only had young kids I would easily choose those three or even quassy, funtown and compounce over six flags. Cheaper and a nicer atmosphere for families.

I created a new thread for our discussion in the rides in storage thread. Somehow I accidentally included a post from sfne13 in the GADv Discussion thread as the first post in the topic. I have no idea how that happened. I can't delete it or else it will delete the whole thread so just ignore it. Lol.

ok, I am going to offer a different opinion and hopefully not get screwed over by the thumbs up/thumbs down system
I have a young rug rat, I took her to Storyland and Santa's Village. It was great.
But- I dont think that the Looney Tunes area is dead because younger families dont visit SFNE. That area doesnt have a lot of rides and wouldnt need a lot of guests to make it busy. As a parent of a little one, I always took a right at the gazebo after saying Hi to the Looney characters or Mr Six along the way over to Kidzopolis. Why? because the rides are newer AND as much as this pains me to admit- I could ride with my young kid on a lot of the Kidzopolis stuff with her. Yeah- that was me hunched down in the back of the copters and planes, and big red cars and even on the pirate ship and kiddie tea cups... As a new parent- its cool to ride with them and see your kids experience stuff for the first time. Yes I could have ridden some in Movie Town, but not as many. Plus the food options in the new area were much better than in Movie Town. I would also take her on RT 66, I could walk with her down to DC and she could see Batman or the characters down there.

Again, I really dont believe that the number of younger families has much to do with it- as a parent, I spent much more time in Kidzopolis for the rides and the flow was such that there was more for us to do down that end

Yes you make a good point. Kidzopolis has 4 family rides (the plans, cars, rt66, and the ship) Movie town has 2 (great chase and Studio tour) adults can ride in the back of prop delivery but its still a kiddie ride and not as accommodating as the family sized big red cars.

This fall into my plea for more family rides in the park.

Movie town definitely needs a face lift. There is nothing special about any of the rides and many seem a bit run down. For me Great Chase is the only ride of the 4 that should definite stay. maybe the kiddie swings. Remove prop delivery and use the land for more flats.

Thank you Mr Scary for actually bringing in your parental experience instead of just reporting what you see when passing through an area.

Mrceagle - I think even the kiddie swings in Movietown can go. The ones in Kidzopolis are bigger and better. The only rides worth keeping would be Great Chase, Studio Tour, and the kiddie whip and frog hopper.

If I ran the park I would do away with more than one dedicated kid areas. Kidzopolis would stay and I would relocate the rides I mentioned above, with the exception of Great Chase, elsewhere in the park. That way if you're in a big group with a wide range of ages, the older ones can ride a thrill ride while the younger ones ride a smaller ride nearby.

I would also keep the Looney Tunes theming just because. SFFT does this well I believe. @jpp858 would know more about that then me.

Here's a list of changes I would make:
-The frog hooper can literally go anywhere but I think relocating it to the South End would be the best. Kids can ride that while everyone else is riding Mind Eraser and Batman.
    -Studio Tour somewhere near NESS.
-I would then move the kiddie whip to where Ships Ahoy! is. The ship would be placed in the pad in front of Goliath's exit. Obviously that area didn't work out like the park hoped it would. This would be the first step in making something out of the wharf themed area that currently is part of Main St. and North End. Eventually a splash battle would be added completing that area. Great Chase could get a pirate theme too.

Of course this is all crazy fanboy dreaming and it will never ever happen but yeah, whatever. Haha.

Prop delivery is themed well but from an adult perspective you definitely see a lot of plumbers crack when parents ride it in back ha ha

To be honest I forgot about the kiddie whip so my numbers are off by one. as for the swings I figured it's no headache ride and uses pretty much no space. Using your around the park suggestion just put them by Crime wave. that was the kids under height can ride the kiddie one.

Seeing rides around the park can be a bit hit or miss. if you have a small spot that cant hold anything else it's not bad. but if it uses prime real estate then that's a problem.

I opted to remove Studio tours mostly because there is a new and better looking mechanism in Whistle stop.

Splash battles are nothing special. While I would love to see another water ride included in the dry park they really should do better.
