Are you able to go when Lake Compounce is open after nightfall? By day it's fantastic. By night, it's one of the world's best coasters.

I’m pretty much gonna go whenever, but it’s a day trip and I have a 2 1/2 hour drive home (Id like to be home at a decent hour). When do you guys recommend going in terms of crowds and what’s open?

Don’t sacrifice the night rides because you have a couple hour ride home. If you go to Great Adventure it’s farther. You can sleep in.

You can only get real (pitch black) night rides on BD in the Fall. The park closes too early all summer. Go on a Friday night early in the Graveyard season and multiple rides on BD at night will be no problem. Night rides on BD, in front, is one of the great coaster experiences anywhere and we are so lucky to have it right here in our "backyard"! It might be a bit beyond "backyard" for y0u but it will be more than worth the drive!

That sounds good. I’m going with a group and I’ll let them know!

It’s true that the park closes before sunset during the summer with the exception of the night they have their 4th of July fireworks display. You can go on Boulderdash without waiting in line as most of the patrons will be huddled near the lake to watch the show.

It’s a great combination of riding Boulderdash in the dark, highlighted by fireworks igniting all around you hyper fast. Think the Millennium Falcon entering light speed.

It sounds really fun. I’m already excited beyond belief about Boulder Dash, but the night rides sound insane, too.

I love going to parks at nighttime. It’s almost surreal. It’s as though you’re experiencing a different park all for the same admission.

I’d agree, I’ve done the same with my home park. Would you guys say the water park is worth doing? I’m not a water park person at all really but I hear LC’s is really nice and I’m willing to check it out if you guys say its worth it.

They do have a nice water park called Crocodile Cove. It’s not gigantic but does have two wavepools, a lazy river and numerous slides. There is also a beach and two changing rooms with showers. If it’s a hot day, expect wall-to-wall crowds.

The water park is included with admission with locker rentals available. If your concerned about a lengthy commute, the park has a beautiful campground as well with cabin rentals plus sites for teepees, tents and RV’s.

It sounds really nice. I gotta say that while I can’t wait for Boulder Dash and Phobia I’m most excited for some of the flats there because their Screamin’ Swing, Disk’O and dark ride all seem awesome.

I have basically the same drive time so I get it but summer the park closes early enough you can get home at a decent hour.

2 years back I visited twice both on Thursdays and the park was pretty dead. you have to deal with a few food location closed but the crowds were light and we hit everything we wanted with minimum wait and got the coaster multiple times.

I’ve always used the “slight chance of rain on a Tuesday mindset” because it usually works but it’s always risky because I don’t want to get out there and have it be crappy weather for the day.

During May and June, there are a bunch of school groups and the their horde of escorting buses that come any given day. After that, it settles into the usual summer crowd. But again, when it’s HOT out, the water park heats up with the crowds, which means a lot of cars jamming the parking lot early, although the parking lot attendants have a knack for directing cars quickly.

If you just want to hit the dry park for flats and coasters, those days are ok because 70% of the crowds will be at the beach or water rides. BTW, the “dry” park does have two wet rides. A log flume and river rapids ride.
