Here's the most recent update of Great Nor'Easter's construction. Morey's said the track would be largely complete by December and from the looks of this video, that seems accurate. The ride is also getting all new ride systems and magnetic braking. The systems and braking will be worked on over the winter months.

Why put this much money into an SLC. Just tear it out and put in something better...

Obviously they like it and It's a lot of coaster in a small space. also they seem to be the the first to do a number of upgrades so

SLC are not horrible coasters the train is the biggest problem. The layout and foot print is very good.

Having been on several SLCs, I can firmly say what Morey's and Vekoma did to the Great Nor'Easter made a major difference. The ride was actually smooth. I noticed one bump at the bottom of the first drop and then the entrances into some of the inversions are aggressive, but with the vest restraints this isn't an issue. I can't believe they made a SLC that enjoyable. I would still take every B&M invert over it, but the newly improved Great Nor'Easter is better than a lot of the B&M floorless coasters I've been on.

That's great news. though I don't see many parks upgrading their coasters to this extent.

I agree. I believe it cost $5 million for Morey's to upgrade the coaster and that chunk of change could buy an entirely new coaster (a small one) that would be more marketable. New trains like what SFNE did seems like the more likely scenario for parks that want to upgrade their SLC.

That's a hefty chunk of chance I think the SLC sells for like 9 Million with the cheapest new one selling for 7 Million. And like you said you can buy a fairly solid steel coaster or a very good wood coaster for that much.

The upgrade wasn't meant to be marketed as a new coaster (and they've even said it themselves they didn't plan on marketing it that way), simply an update to a bad ride in an awkward location where they really can't build anything else.

This recent interview highlights their future plans for the next 3 years that includes a new coaster and a major waterpark expansion.

Thanks for posting that link. I just read it. The interview with Jack Morey was a blast to read. He is as colorful as his parks and has a great comedic sense of humor.

    Nice article.

I do hope they get that coaster off the ground. I have seen blueprints ad it looks like a great concept. I just hope as it move forward that it continues to be developed as a wood coasters.

Just rode the Great Nor'Easter yesterday and it was an improvement! Hard to be 100% if the refurbishment made a difference as I haven't ridden Mind Eraser since opening day but it was a nice ride!

Took 2 back to back rides on Great NorEaster tonight and man! The new track is great! Such an improvement over the old track and any other SLC at that. $5 million is a hefty price tag for most parks, but for Morey's and the ride's location it's a great upgrade.

It's legitimately smooth besides one jerk after the inline twists. And the new magnetic brakes are very smooth and make for a comfortable finish. Very surprised but pleased with the results.

Great White tonight also gave me a great ride; easily the best I've gotten on it in years. Very smooth and fast.

Sounds like a good trip. It's so good to hear all that investment made a positive change to Nor Easter.

Morey's adding a new family coaster to replace their now-removed Flitzer. Taking the spot of the Flitzer and their Wild Mouse which will probably be relocated between Great Nor'Easter and Dante's Dungeon.

Looks like a clone of Flying Eagle at Legoland Denmark which was manufactured by Zierer:

I saw that yesterday and it looks fun. We need to get some of this type of coasters up here.
