Today was a pretty awesome day at the park, lots of typical opening day shenanigans that should have been avoided, but usually happens. Got to the park about half an hour after opening and noticed no activity from Cyclone or Goliath and saw Superman doing a test run. Amazing that they can't have their best ride ready at opening for guests. Also not having both trains on at opening makes zero sense either.

Not sure why they had to change this area, but I guess it looks ok.

Went straight to Superman and waited about 40 minutes for the front of the 6th car, one of my favorite rows. Operations were ok but employees didn't put much effort in at being efficient. Seems like they did away with the visual scan too which is interesting. There was a real lack of communication between the operator and ops in the morning when it came to checking seats and verifying rows.

New box (pretty much just to prevent people from crossing and made to look like it actually has a purpose)

Holes in the floor from the VR fencing and sloppy job with bringing the normal fencing back. Not bad but I wish they did it like before and put it through the floor instead of just bolting it in. VR sure did leave a mess in the station.

Also not sure what happened here... Probably better to just remove the whole facade (and the plain looking houses)

Why can't these lights just work...

Ended up getting 9 rides including a front row that took WAY longer than it should have. Line was in the station and it took well over an hour for the front. Had to wait through a breakdown and them allowing 6+ groups from the exit to take the front row.

Checked out Mind Eraser next, queue line is set up fairly well, much more thought out than Superman. New train was excellent, very good improvement. Moves the ride up to a great ride in my book, before it was pretty meh. A little shaking in a few transitions but I was very impressed with the ride experience. VR on the other hand was a mess and I tried twice to get on with VR and each time they announced it was not functioning. What a disaster.

The setup is pretty good, but there is one big flaw. The split in the line needs to be much further back. Both times I was waiting, everyone wanted VR, so the non-VR line was practically empty so they were sending trains with one or two rows full. Makes zero sense at all. If they are going to keep the layout, both trains should be equipped to use VR in the event of nobody waiting for the non-VR train. Sending empty trains with the line in the queue building is unacceptable.

Checked out Joker next, it is looking very nice. Love the track colors but I am still a fan of the all grey supports. It looks fine but I would much rather have the grey supports.

Candy Cabin looks a little out of place now..

queue looks like it will be very similar to GAdv's.

Batman is looking great with the new black restraints and new seats. I rode in the second row and the wheels from the front were making noises. It was smooth but shaky in some parts.

One thing I am not a fan of is the new snack stand across from the Tea Cups. Looks like a portable McDonalds and doesn't look that great. And it also reminded me of this... :D

If you want to be a villain number one...

Are you sure about that? :D

The biggest fail of the day was easily Wicked Cyclone operations wise. One train with a slow crew is completely unacceptable. I got lucky and got in line right after a break down and was pretty close to the station and it still took thirty minutes to ride. The ride ran ok but not the best. No excuse to have slow ops or one train running on what many consider the best coaster there.

I did see some new shirts and merch in the shops. This shirt looked new to me, not looking good for those on the tear that thing down bandwagon.

I think they had this one last season.

Those posters are cool but $15 is a little steep.

I did also hear that the yellow bottle can only be obtained by buying a dining pass. Can't wait to see how many bottles get stolen. A few visits ago security denied the lock my brother was using on his bottle so we are just using tape and sharpies now. But I really hope they ditch the bottles and go to free cups.

Kryptonite looks good and I like what they did with the queue. I didn't ride it, but the theming on the ride itself looked a little lazy. I could totally see a Zamperla enterprise going in there, could even keep the same name if they wanted to.

One thing I also noticed regarding the ride, the purple lights that were on Joker were not being used or were removed. I feel like if they were keeping the ride, they would have replaced those strips with green lights instead of just turning the purple ones off. The lights on the black things around the ride were also flashing too at night.

One other complaint I had were the food lines. Kickin Chicken had no line so I got food there twice, but JB's and Take 6 was mobbed each time I checked. They are trying to sell dining passes but getting food takes forever. Hopefully food wait times improve.

Overall, I had a pretty good visit. The only big L's were Cyclone, VR, and operations in general. Good way to start the season though.

I also rode Sky Screamer twice, and both rides were amazing, our seat was doing 360's up there. The ride is so much fun when it is windy.

The daily planet globe was also spinning for the first time, looked really cool.

Nice TR! Seems like a pretty typical opening day, but as always I'm sure operations in all departments will improve as new employees get used to their role.

One thing that has been overlooked these past few years is how phenomenal of a job the sign shop does. Kryptonite looks great, and to me, that small "Warning: Radioactive" sign goes a long way in helping make the attraction feel less like a carnival ride while delivering some thematics to it. I'm excited to see what they'll do in regards to signs with Joker's queue.

Nice report, yesterday was typical opening day just like it has been for the past 8 years I have been going to Opening.

I think overall the park looked incredible. Especially compared to what great Adventure looked like last weekend for Opening. SFNE really does a great job and makes so many improvements during the offseason. Idk if that will slow down now with HITP but I'm sure there is a plan in place.

I don't understand why they made the change to only selling the .99 cent refill bottle and not the yellow one. Great Adventure sells both, the yellow one is priced at $29.99 so if you go to Great Adventure you can buy it without a dining pass & then use it at SFNE anyways. Plus the vast majority of bottles I saw yesterday were yellow anyways, so I'm sure most people have the dining pass already - which honestly is a no brainer if you're visiting more then twice.

Yeah I see that now lol. It's very strange since GADV is selling both. Not really sure what went into this decision making.

The yellow bottles are still accepted obviously. Just not available for purchase. All of the stands menu show the red bottle only. :/

I also forgot to mention something I saw while leaving. I was coming back from Superman around 10 minutes after closing and there was a security guard in front of the gazebo with a mega phone yelling at people and saying the park is closed and they needed to leave. I dont remember ever seeing this at any park I've been too and it made me pretty disappointed. 30 minutes after closing its fine to go tell guests to leave, but not with a mega phone. I thought it was ridiculous.

All the gift shops still had their doors open and the food places were still open and there's this lady yelling at people, is that a good way to end the day? Wasn't too impressed by that.

That's a little bit excessive. I don't understand why they would have someone doing that. Maybe this person in particular did it on their own. The park really needs to understand how that effects their image the eyes of guests. 30 mins after closing and security escorts to claim things out of your locker? Fine. 30 minutes after closing & guests standing around in a circle - not leaving? Fine. 10 minutes after the park closed when the rides are flushing out lines. And stores are still opened? Not fine. Now someone who was buying that $30 sweatshirt is going to say f that & leave. Loss of a sale.
