I think all three of those are really good ideas. The problem is the park has so many awesome options and not a ton of room to work with.. before you posted that I was dead set on an S&S Freefly for Bobsled, Gerstlauer spinner for CB and GTX Hyper for Demon but now I’m second guessing myself.

Is there anywhere the park can expand to?

Not really, I mean even if they arrange or push back the picnic grove it only opens up a small area that is a horrible dead end.

At one point I talked about relocating the picnic groves and and into that area. this was when they still had the SLC and it would have been a flagship attraction for a Gotham city. But the houses were not built behind comet and there were no water slides blocking the path along comet. but as time has gone by that area is more and more restrictive.

it's always easier to wish then to implement.

Yeah I really don’t think there’s a spot they can go much. Maybe open up the path between Timbertown and Ghost Town but even that isn’t much.

No and again the park doesn't need a lot of coasters. I know some thing they are all that is important but there are so many more park experiences out there.

That’s true, I think beefing up current attractions is good right now. Like I mentioned with Raging River, and I still think Cannonball should get some love.

It’s current location doesn’t look good, and if they moved it to Hot Rod USA and theme it a little better. If they built a jail building around it and called it Jailhouse Rock it would be themed really well. If they can modify it to go backwards again that’d be really good, too.

Unless they replaced the computer to only allow forward motion it can operate backwards. many parks shy away form it since reversing direction tend to make people sick.

But a year of improvements and a new show could be good. Especially if they can roll the savings into something bigger the following year or the year after that.

I’ve just always thought Cannonball looked really ugly and out of place in its current location. Not only that, but it’s age is showing for the worst.

In terms of your theory about spillover budget going into a bigger attraction, I doubt it. 2017, 2018 and 2019 were not that expensive for the park, and if they’re saving all that up they’re saving for a B&M Giga. I just feel like they’ve spent a relatively small price for additions lately and we’ve probably saved enough for a coaster. Does anyone know how the new additions work? Is it Six Flags or Great Escape picking new rides, or do they collaborate on it?

I don’t have an exact answer but I’m very confident it’s a corporate decision. Once they pick the financial expenditure maybe the park has a pick from there but that’s it which honestly makes financial sense even if it’s not a coaster enthusiast hope.

I always figured SF gave them a budget and few options and TGE kinda got a choice from there.

Some of those projects were More expensive then you might think. Pandemonium with the ride purchase, ground work, landscaping, shipping, etc was in the range of 1.3 million. A drop box slide is sightly expensive but not horrible. this year they are doing a lot around the park. Capital improvements that are often overlooked or disliked like modifying the dive show are all part of the budget.
I'm not sure how they set up the budget. or how they pick rides.

Yeah I get that, but all I’m saying is that if they had plans for a coaster, they wouldn’t do these non-essential things they’re doing (like upgrading the CB trains). They’re spending money that doesn’t really need to be spent, and them doing that tells me they don’t have big plans anytime soon.

Agreed that Cannonball looks awful and out of place. Hasn’t been painted in years- peeling all over, the lights don’t work on it- it just looks like it belongs in a run down carnival.

Pretty sure they’re just changing the tan shells on the Canyon Blaster train out for the blue ones from the 2nd train. I think the park was trying to make that sound better than it really is lol. They’ll really impress me some day when they paint the ride and restore it to 2 train ops.

I doubt you’ll see the day. The line gets long, but it’s not unbearably long and it’s a half hour wait tops. Plus I heard they modified the system to only run one train anyway? Again, that’s a case of money being spent in a good way, but just not where it is needed most.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if they need to completely skip doing investment one year just to save up for a coaster the next, I’ll be completely fine with it. As long as they advertise it as such, because if I just hear we’re not getting a ride I won’t be thrilled.

They’ve publicly said the system was modified to only run 1 train but who knows if that’s true or just their excuse. When the ride opened it intended to run 2 trains but the first train out of the station got stuck on lift 2 and the ride had to be shut down for the day. After that, the 2nd train never came off the transfer track and disappeared. There are a few pics floating around of the blue train running, and I found one a while back of tan running with blue on the transfer.

I’m more curious to know what happened to the 3rd train (which was red)- the park acknlowledged it’s existence when I asked about it one time but I’m guessing it was cannibalized for the blue and tan (not that the ride needed 3 trains anyways)

It definitely would be better with 2 trains but a third would be unnecessary.
